How did Health Holidays start?
Rob Kasper Ligthart developed the juice cleanse and sports program for Health Holidays in 1985. As a tour operator specializing in trips to Ireland and Portugal, he was personally confronted with the importance of good health. After a critical hospitalization, he wanted to organize health spa trips that would promote the well-being of his guests. After extensive research, he determined the composition of both the juice cleanse and the sports program, ensuring guests achieve optimal results in a responsible manner. He founded the company ApriOri Reizen B.V. and began organizing sports trips to Portugal under the brand name ApriFit.
There was a lot of interest in ApriOri Reizen’s new health holidays to Portugal, but the company name didn’t sufficiently clarify the type of trips offered. To clarify this, a new label was launched in 1991: Health Holidays. Our company name is now ApriOri Reizen and the brand name is Health Holidays. We now offer three destinations: Portugal, Turkey, and Fuerteventura, and our guests can enjoy a wonderful health holiday almost year-round.
After Rob’s death in 2008, his wife Hennie and his sons Laurens and Rory continued the business. Since then, Hennie has worked for the company as a hostess and Laurens as a director.
Our team
The juice cleanse and sports program are supervised by professional and motivated Dutch-speaking staff. Our sports instructors will conduct the intake interview and ensure you receive a varied and challenging sports program throughout your stay. They are available to assist you at any time of the day.
